THE LATEST LONG WALK

On Sunday 1st of June, SJ, D and J toddled off on a walk from Mordialloc to carrum along the beach, returning by walking a little way up the Patterson River, then doubling back along the Long Beach Trail (I think). All up we walked just under 20km, and it went remarkably well, considering the first half was on sand.

The pier, centipede-ing across the water.

Dan, having selected his bathing box.

Stillness at the jetty.

From where, and to where?

Not sure what these are.

D and SJ, struck by GODRAYS!

More pics here. Enjoy!

LATE! BETTER THAN NEVER!

dan gave me an awesome prezzie for my birthday! it's a book made up of pictures from our walk down the thames! he made it using blurb, and it is AMAZING! so much easier than making a photo album. i think i might make one for every big trip! however, the book reminded me that i never got around to uploading the last few pics of our thames walk - the tour of oxford. so, here they are. and you can click here for all our uk06 pics.

RAIN, RAIN, DON'T GO AWAY

yay! i bought a new raincoat!!! i've been whining about my old one (never being sure if it's REALLY waterproof enough, being annoyed at the hood on it, etc) and ummmming and aahhhhhhing about getting a new one for AGES. today we went into kathmandu to harass them to give me a new card with my new name (didn't happen the last couple of times i tried to get it done!), and to buy some thermals for us and sajee (long johns and shorts = THE BEST winter walking gear), and i had a little look at the raincoats. this one was on clearance for $230, marked down from $470... which is a bit over what i wanted to pay (i was looking at about $150-$200), but it fits really well, it's nice and long, the collar is AWESOME and the hood is great! and it's gortex and it packs away nice and small (about the same size as my old one - the bulk factor has been a big reason not to buy before).

anyway. i am now totally set for wet-weather hiking.

After our upcoming four day walk with S & E along the Ridgeway Path in September, my parents are treating myself and nix, and my two brothers and their partners and offspring, to a four day weekend in Norfolk, in the delightfully named village of Burnham Overy Staithe.

That's rather nice of them, don't you think?
